President of the National Associating of Immigration JudgesOur next Cultural Competency in Family Law Practice (CCFP) Seminar is on July 28, 2018, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm in the auditorium of the University of West Los Angeles (UWLA), LAX campus. It is organized by the Iranian American Lawyers Association (IALA), and sponsored by many California family law related organizations including the California Lawyers Association, Family Law Section (FLEXCOM), the (California) Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS), the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA), the Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) and many more.



This year’s theme and topic is PITFALLS AND SINKHOLES: WHAT ANY FAMILY LAW PRACTITIONER MUST, BUT DOESN’T, KNOW. In the seminar, six (6) panels of Family Law Judicial Officers and Practitioners will discuss cultural mistakes and misunderstandings in Family Law litigation and transactions unknown to the untrained common practitioner. The Seminar is designed to identify, highlight, analyze and discuss interactions between cultural values and legal norms, and how to respect and implement cultural motivations in family law transactions and litigation without offending the California public policies.
